Richard William Wright

Died: September 15, 2008.
The keyboard player of Pink Floyd also played in the very early constellations Sigma 6 and The Architectural Abdabs in 1965. He played an important role in defining the sound of Pink Floyd. Among his most known compositions for the band is The great Gig in the sky.
Around 1982 he was forced to leave the band, mainly by Roger Waters who didn't think Wright contributed enough. Later, when Waters also left the band, Richard Wright was hired as a studio musician for A Momentary Lapse Of Reason. At the release of the Division Bell he was again officially a member of the band. Wright has also madea fewsolo albums. The last one was Broken China from 1996. Richard Wright is father-in-law to Guy Pratt, who became the preferred bass player with the new Pink Floyd.
Richard Wright sadly passed away in 2008 after a short struggle with cancer.
