Roger Waters solo album

Roger Waters: "Heartland"

Unfinished project/album

Heartland was for some time considered the title for a new Roger Waters album. This was according to a number of interviews and information on the Roger Waters homepage.

Work on the concept album started in February 2000 and paused for the In The Flesh Tour. The latest release estimate mentioned by Roger Waters in an interview with Jim Ladd is 2006. According to interviews in 2012 the Heartland album or at least a song could still be in the works.

Flickering Flame, 'Woman' and 'Love in Spite of Traffic' has been mentioned as song titles from the new album. 'Each Small Candle' was also mentioned, but according to the sleeve notes on In The Flesh, Roger Waters may have changed his mind. The single To Kill the Child and Leaving Beirut could also have been planned for the album.

"Themes for discussion"

The official Roger Waters homepage has announced the plans for a new album and some of the themes it may concern. Users can contribute their own opinions to a discussion on a message board.

The following message from Roger Waters probably serves a working treatment for the album:

We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness...

It does not seem so... ?

Is there more than one story?

Do I have personal responsibility?

Do I matter?

The Internet... a spiritual / religious experience?

I am going to start working on a new record in February.
It is going to be about some or all of the above.

What do you think?
